Peter Wilkerson
I am a Senior Consultant with Davalen, LLC with 20 years of both Information Management and Project Management experience. I solve information-related business problems using both Information Science and Technology.
I have worked with government, corporate, educational and cultural organizations across the United States to develop online access solutions for borth digital and paper-based records. I have explored and used a number of different Information Technologies to design and build solutions including GIS, XML data models, databases, and search and discovery software such as OmniFind, Solr, and eXist.
I co-authored a book for the J. Paul Getty Information Institute, “Introduction to Archival Organization and Description” (also a web publication), led workshops to support a collaborative effort to coordinate information technology strategies across multiple organizations for a Southwestern organization, and was a course developer and instructor for the Society of American Archivists on access points and intellectual access to collections. And, more recently, I was an invited participant at a colloquium, New Skills for a Digital Era, sponsored by National Archives and Records Administration and the Society of American Archivists held in Washington, D.C.
Representative information management-related skills include:
– Information architecture, taxonomy, and metadata development
– Information retrieval and discovery analysis
– Internal search analysis and tuning;
– Content and document management, analysis and evaluation
– Content integration
I also am an experienced project manager, most recently serving as the project manager for an extensive e-commerce design and implementation project.
